At Mother of Mercy Okwelogu, Otolo Nnewi, we empower the girl child through the provision of qualitative and affordable education, and we mould her unto a proper teenage who has the fear of God and respects authority. We are committed to academic excellence and with a staff strength of over 36 qualified and seasoned teachers in the various subjects, including: English Language, Mathematics, French, Igbo, Physics, Cosmetology, Economics, Government, Computer Science, Agricultural Science, Home Economics, Literature in English, Fine Art, Christian Religious Education, Financial Account to mention but a few. We have been able to expand/improve student's cognitive ability. The success recorded so far in terms of improved students performance in both internal and external examinations is attributable to the serenity of the environment, which is second to none and has enhanced teaching and learning tremendously; adequate office and classroom blocks; well equipped laboratories, recruitment of qualified and experienced teachers retaining of teachers through seminar and workshop.
We have equally improved in the structural aspects of the school through the help of some benefactors. During the regime of Mr. Peter Obi we benefited from him by equipping the school with 60 sets of computers, library and 2 big commuter Buses' generator for the moral support of the school. The management through the help of the P.T.A has installed the C.C. T.V camera together with solar energy in the compound. Students chapel was renovated and Blessed Sacrament was installed for the students; our lady's grotto was been replaced with a bigger. Mother of Mercy statue and enough space to accommodate a good number of students during private devotions. A two-storey building at the back for hostel accommodation. We believe in our students and have impressed on them the need to frown upon cheating in examination and immoral acts. I cannot help noting that the journey so far has been so good. I am glad that we have fulfilled our dream So far. To God be the glory.
